Amy Cessna
Health Matters Occupational Medicine is managed by Amy Cessna, FNP-C. Amy is a graduate of Simmons University in Boston, Massachusetts and is certified through the AANP as a Family Nurse Practitioner in Maryland. Amy is a Cumberland native and graduate of Fort Hill High School. She earned her associate’s degree from Allegany College of Maryland, bachelor’s degree from Grand Canyon University, and has experience in emergency medicine. Amy enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, traveling, cooking, and attending antique car shows.

Occupational Medicine
(also known as “occupational health”) concentrates on the treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses. We work with employers to aid in workplace safety and keep their business running smoothly.
- Employer Commitment – Health Matters wants to work with employers to understand their business. We will work to assist you with utilizing all of the services we offer to make sure you have employees that are safe on the job. We are able to schedule workplace visits to understand how your business operates and how that may affect treatment plans and return-to-work.
- Patient Encounters – We aim to provide the best care possible when treating each patient. We want to provide a warm, caring environment for you to be seen and will work with you to get you back to work in a safe and timely manner.
WORKPLACE INJURIES
Unfortunately, workplace injuries happen. When they do, we are here to help treat your employee and help them recuperate quickly and carefully, hopefully with minimal interruption to your business.
PHYSICALS
Health Matters Occupational Medicine performs employee physicals to assist employers with maintaining the safety of all employees on the job. We offer pre-employment and DOT Physicals.
- DOT Physicals are performed by certified Medical examiners to provide a NRCME-compliant DOT exam.
- Pre-Employment Physicals are performed to test applicants to ensure they are able to safely perform the tasks of the job, keeping them and their co-workers safe.
- Regulatory Exams may be performed to comply with government agencies.
TESTS AND SCREENINGS
When employers implement a testing and screening policy within the workplace, it creates a safer, more productive work atmosphere. We are able to perform various tests which are fast, easy, and convenient to aid employers in both hiring and maintaining a dependable work environment. Health Matters performs a number of labs, and testing modalities. These include drug and alcohol testing, audiograms, x-rays, pulmonary function testing, tuberculosis testing, titers, and evaluation services that assist employers with preventive screenings and a drug free workplace.
VACCINATION SERVICES
If your workplace requires vaccinations, we offer various vaccines, including the flu vaccine. Call our office for more details on which vaccinations we offer.
